OCHS Receives “I Care for Animals” Car Tag Grant

The Oktibbeha County Humane Society (OCHS) has been awarded a $3,000 “I Care for Animals” car tag grant from the Mississippi Board of Animal Health.  The funds will be used as part of their spay/neuter initiative. 

OCHS was founded in 1978 with a mission to promote domestic animal welfare.  Information about OCHS may be found on its website at www.ochsms.org. 

The “I Care for Animals” Car Tag Program offers an opportunity for Mississippians to purchase a specialty license plate which benefits animals around the state.  The license plates may be purchased at county tax collector’s offices. 

The proceeds from these purchases go into a state animal care fund which is distributed to animal shelters, humane organizations and municipalities which make application and meet the criteria for award.

The “I Care for Animals” Car Tag Program is in its eighteenth year of assisting these organizations primarily with spay/neuter programs.
